Everyone meet Tom Hopkins our September athlete of the month!
Tom is a former athlete and has a competitive spirit! His wife pushed him for years to try and get into CrossFit, but he refused due to physical limitations and the fear of not being good at it. Now Tom has been doing CrossFit for about two years!
Tom also played sports as a kid, he was into football, soccer, and wrestling! Throughout college, he “wrested until he couldn’t anymore.”
Tom is the Director of Operations for a UK based biotech company that does rare pediatric and adult diseases. He has been in biotech sales and management for almost 30 years.
CrossFit has helped Tom inside the gym as well as outside. He has gained more self- confidence and energy! Both things he doesn’t need more of according to Karen (his wife.) He’s not sure what his favorite movements are but one thing Tom is sure of is that he hates wall balls.
Tom’s favorite part about CrossFit Independence is all the amazing friendships that he has made. Also getting through Coach Hannah’s WOD’s, he feels satisfied and “just done.” Tom has a number in his head that he’s shooting for weight wise. He feels that he has gone two steps forward and one step back, but he is still determined! Tom is motivated and as his kids say, “I’ll keep grinding until I get there.”
